Roberta L. Dougherty, who holds an M.A. in Contemporary Arab Studies from Georgetown University and an M.I.L.S. from the University of Michigan, is the Librarian for Middle East Studies at the Yale University Library. She has lectured on and published her research on the history of printing and publishing in the Middle East, the social construction of performance in Egypt, the expressive culture of the Arab Spring, the history of library collections of Islamic manuscripts, the history of American Orientalism, and Egyptian musical film.
