Curator, American History and Diplomacy

Dr. Joshua Cochran is the Curator for American History and Diplomacy at the Beinecke Library, which includes the personal papers of former U.S. diplomats, foreign service officers, and the papers of five former U.S. Secretaries of State. He earned his PhD from the University of Iowa and MLIS from Wayne State University in Detroit. Previously, he taught public policy, U.S. foreign policy, and U.S. history at Michigan State University and worked for the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library in Ann Arbor, Michigan. His research considers the Cold War’s impact in shaping relationships among the archive, the state, and civil society in late twentieth century United States.
